A Mobile Public Square

A Mobile Public Square, was exhibited at Seventh Gallery. It responded to the idea that in the initial design for Melbourne city, they did not want to include public squares as it would encourage democracy. I created a small, wooden platform on wheels as a means to intentionally encourage democracy. The function of this public space was determined by members of the public who participate in group sessions on the square, one session taking place at Federation square and the rest in the gallery space. The project examined how democracy exists in public spaces in Australia and the various powers at play.
